[Weird can be used as a way of calling him interesting, and it's not negatively judging like "gross" or "really strange" could be. It also means that he's unpredictable and unique, which are both really good!]
Trust is the most important thing to build relationships on, and you can count on me to hold my word and never backstab you. If you can give me the same we'll be fine.
If you are talking to friends or family? Probably. People like it when you make it sound like you are looking forward to it rather than treating it like part of your work.
It's just a little phrasing but it can go a far mile.
