But for now he's getting distance. Izuku has the upper hand the moment he gets close. Shouto's quirk was designed for long range combat. His hand to hand is still abysmal.
Another blast of ice, trying to cut Izuku off from his escape path, trying to trap him.]
[Izuku really is strong. His struggle stops, and instead he just rests his hands over Izuku's shoulders. Well muscled, even if they're not incredibly broad.
It's an excuse to touch, but he doesn't think he'll be called out on it.]
[Shouto wins the second, but loses the third, once again on his back, Izuku's got his hands held captive above his head. How did they end up here? Why is Shouto only mildly annoyed he lost? His overwhelming feeling seems to be confusingly content to stay like this. Just as long as Izuku's so close.
[Flushed from all the running around they just did, Izuku beams at the praise.]
Thanks, Shouto! [Whatever else he's going to say immediately gets lost as Izuku looks down at him and freezes in place--no pun intended. Oddly silent, his wide eyes stay on Shouto's lips as he sits there, transfixed by the way the ice forms on his friend's breath.]
[Shouto stares up at his friend, looking a bit puzzled at the way Izuku's staring at him.]
... Something wrong?
[It's not as though he can get up with Izuku holding him down like that. And being held down is... just fine? He could stay like this for as long as Izuku asked. Though he doubts it would ever come up.]
[That snaps him out of his daze. With a mortified squeak, Izuku practically flings himself off of Shouto, blush darkening as it spreads down his neck, up to his ears, until he's an alarming shade of red all around.]
N-n-nope! [Don't mind him, he's just going to sit over here, arms wrapping around his head. Spoilers: it does nothing to actually hide him.] Everything's just fine!
[Internally, his thoughts are running at a hundred miles per hour as he frantically tries to figure out what just happened. He's seen Shouto do that exact thing so many times before! Why is this time any different?]
It's nothing! [His voice definitely did not just crack...(it definitely just did.) Izuku presses his hands to his burning cheeks, very carefully avoiding Shouto's eyes.
Hurriedly, and still hiding his face from his friend, Izuku gets to his feet..] U-um! That's it for the training today! Let's go pick up some supplies from the garden before we head back!
[He could definitely press on this, but Izuku just came home. Izuku's already disappeared once. It would be better to keep Izuku at home for a little longer.]
[It's weird to walk in silence, but it's not the first time Izuku's been quiet. At least this time it's not because all of his mumbling has gone missing.]
Any kind of fruit. There's a bunch of apples, aren't there?
Thanks, Shouto. [Izuku gets to work, picking a handful of apples and slipping them into his bag. The vegetables come next, before Izuku passed the bagpack over to Shouto for the potatoes.]

He'll stop himself from falling and throws another chunk of ice at his friend, watching the way he dodges.]

Another flick of the finger, mostly to ward Shouto off, as he breaks the ice trapping his foot.]

Izuku jumps, giving a playful flip in midair before landing in front of Shouto and then tackling him to the ground.]

Izuku.
[But he'll try to grab Izuku's shoulders and roll him over, so he's on the bottom.]

I think I win this round.

We'll see what happens the next one.

Best two out of three? [There's no hiding how pleased he is at his obvious improvement, even if this was just a friendly spar.]

His breath comes out in little cold puffs.]
Good job.

You look distressed.

Okay. What do you want to get?
no subject
Potatoes, I think. And some of the other vegetables. Those should be easy to cook up and eat pretty fast. [A pause.] What do you feel like having?
no subject
Any kind of fruit. There's a bunch of apples, aren't there?
Do we have strawberries yet?
no subject
[Thankfully he has his bag with him to help carry all of this! Izuku feels himself relaxing as things start shifting back to normal between them.]

[And they're here! Izuku heads straight for the apple trees, since they're the closest anyway.]
We can drop everything into my backpack. Uh--except the strawberries. We should probably hold onto those so they don't get squashed on the way back.
no subject
[Because Shouto's going to much on them the entire way home.
But he'll start collecting some potatoes.]
no subject
If you're worried about that, I can carry the strawberries for you.
no subject
I'll carry the rest of our food.
no subject
Just the strawberries left!
no subject
At least it's only one before he starts picking them in earnest to bring back home. ]
Aren't you hungry?
