[Izuku pauses, then stares at him, eyes searching his face for something.]

...I can't tell if you're joking or not.

[Your poker face is too good!!]

Call me Todoroki.

[Shouto's pokerface is still right there.]

[inheritance]

[Izuku thinks he's serious.]

Okay. Todoroki-ku-- [He bites his lip, fighting off the habit.] Todoroki.

[glaciers]

[His expression melts into something more laid back.]

[inheritance]

[Izuku blinks at him in confusion.]

You're...thanking me? For what?

[glaciers]

For calling me by my name. You use honorifics for everybody else.

[inheritance]

Well...you did ask.

[Izuku shifts, feeling oddly bashful. It's habit for him to use honorifics--he's always used them for his classmates. In a way, removing them now feels like a confirmation of the step he and Todoroki have taken in their friendship.]

[glaciers]

[ It's funny it takes until now that Shouto wonders something that's important. ]

... Are you going to be comfortable without the honorific?

[inheritance]

I don't mind! [Izuku stammers out immediately.]

I-it just might take me a little while to get used to leaving it out.

[glaciers]

There's no rush.

... It just feels a little weird when you say it with the honorific. After everything we've been through.

[inheritance]

We have been through a lot together. [Izuku's expression softens as he marvels at this.]

Everything that happened back home was already crazy enough, and now we're stuck in this town in what's probably another world...it's hard to believe sometimes.

[glaciers]

... It's hard to believe we're only in our first year of high school. There were more villain attacks than normal.

[inheritance]

Tell me about it. We barely made it through half of the school year.

[A pause, then his expression grows more somber.] With All Might retired...I guess it's not a surprise that things have changed.

[glaciers]

Villains are more bold than ever.

Everybody is working so hard.

[inheritance]

Yeah... we'll have our work cut out for us when we graduate, but I think we're all up for the challenge.

[His classmates are all so tough and reliable.]

[glaciers]

I'll catch up. It won't be that much longer before I have my licence.

[And he can properly cover Midoriya's back.]

[inheritance]

I know you will.

[It was never a doubt, honestly. Though Todoroki made a mistake in the first exam, Izuku has full confidence that he'll succeed once the supplementary classes are over.]

[glaciers]

[He gives a small smile, only lasting for a moment.]

Anyway. How are you feeling after everything?

[inheritance]

[Put on the spot again, Izuku squirms a little. Trying not to favor his left side too obviously.]

Fine...I think? My color's all back again.

[glaciers]

... You think?

[Shouto takes this moment to stare at Midoriya until he talks about what might actually be bothering him.]

[inheritance]

[...he must be more tired than he thought, if he made a slip like that.]

.....I got grazed by something right before-- [He breaks off, looking uncomfortable. There's still something really unsettling about admitting you were eaten by something.] A-anyway, it's not too bad. Uraraka-san already helped me wrap it up.

[glaciers]

Did- [you see what it was?" but Midoriya just came back from something awful. He shouldn't press on that too hard.]

Are you sure you're okay? Maribelle said she was a healer.

[inheritance]

I-I'm fine! I don't want to bother Maribelle-san again.

What were you going to ask before? [What a smooth attempt to change the subject!]

[glaciers]

When was the last time you talked to her?

... If you knew what hurt you. You don't have to answer that.

[inheritance]

Maybe about two weeks ago?

Ah. [That one he can answer kind of easily, actually, even if it's unpleasant.] The shadows were throwing garden implements at us... I think it was a pair of shears?

[Sooo it's more like a deep gash than a graze.]
